Holiday Candlelight Yin & Sip Event (Sold Out)
Dec

6:00 PM18:00

Holiday Candlelight Yin & Sip Event (Sold Out)

Have fun this holiday season with yin, sips, and your favorite holiday sweater!

This workshop is designed to introduce you to the cooler side of yoga. The static yin practice allows for the stillness and calm required to lengthening and reshape the connective tissues of the body: the joints, the ligaments and the tendons. These tissues are not very vascular (like our muscles) so our work in increasing their mobility must be slow, steady and consistent. By holding deep yet well-supported mat postures for 3 to 10 minutes and allowing gravity to do the work, we give our bodies the time they require to change.

Enjoy this practice by candlelight to help set a calming ambiance followed by chai and hot chocolate. We want you to feel completely relaxed and at ease after you're done. What better way to wrap up the week than with a deep release, community, and warm sips?

The significant difference between the yin and the yang practice (movement based vinyasa, Ashtanga, and Hatha) is that yin postures are done with the muscles totally disengaged so that the pressure stays in the connective tissues. That way these connective tissues are allowed to "unfreeze" gradually, thereby becoming more flexible, stronger, and more resilient as we age. Yin is contemplative by nature so it also allows students an opportunity to develop their focused meditation practice.

Inversions Workshop : Take Flight

Headstand, Forearmstand, and Handstand...OH MY!

Going upside down is scary - we get it. BUT this workshop is designed to help you break down the fundamentals of inversions - alignment, core activation, bandhas, breath, and all the need to knows for getting upside down. We will not only go over these poses in detail, but we will also spend a lot of time practicing. This is open to all levels, so if you're new to inversions, we will have beginner options available to help build strength and body awareness. If you have been practicing for a while, we will also offer options for deepening your variations and trying fun new transitions - there is ALWAYS room for growth. This is always a fun and playful workshop - come ready to enjoy and try new things!

You will be guided step by step with Kaycie Hall - lover of inversions and all things fun. Integrative Spinal Workshop

3:00 PM15:00

Integrative Spinal Workshop

This workshop is designed to nurture awareness on the most important part of our anatomy: the spine. We will discuss the architecture and function of the spine, how spinal curves have evolved over time, and how our chair culture affects the health of our spine today.  Luckily, a yoga practice offers a range of benefits to increase our spinal vitality.

In practice, we will explore forward bends, back bends, and twists.  You will learn to practice yoga postures with greater efficiency and thus less strain on the back.  We will close the workshop with yummy restorative postures, giving our bodies a delightful balance of spinal strengthening, opening, and releasing.

Please note: this workshop is not suitable for those with acute back pain. Those with spinal problems accompanied by mild chronic pain who are already receiving yoga instruction and understand their limitations are welcome to attend.  Sam will make every effort to help individuals with spinal problems but please understand and respect the limits of what can be attained within a group class, as contrasted to one-on-one yoga therapy.

Pop-Up Heated Vinyasa Class

5:30 PM17:30

Pop-Up Heated Vinyasa Class

Adding heat to the practice can offer strong cleansing benefits. It is a great way to detox the body from extra stress, tension and internal blockages. It can be very intimidating to think about an increase of temperature in what already feels like an intense yoga practice, but soon realize it's more a of a mental barrier as opposed to physical. Rest is available just like every other class, and once we learn to relax the mind into the temperature, the body will soon acclimate.

The room will be heated to 90 degrees and you will be guided through a flow of postures building internal heat, strength, balance, flexibility, and endurance. Expect a solid flow, yin postures, and guided meditaiton along with having a great time. You will experience a full body/mind detox as well as a refreshing renewal as you rise from your savasana with clear intention. We hope you can join us for this fun and cleansing evening. No sign ups necessary - just pop in!

Suggested Donation: Free for members, or counts as a normal class.

Sound Healing

Enjoy being guided through a healing, calming, cleansing house of relaxation and refocusing as we balance our energy chakras with crystal singing bowls. We will be setting intentions and letting go of energy blocks. Hilary will guide you through a short set of shamanic drumming and then will segue into a chakra balancing meditation while playing the crystal singing bowls. Open to all ages and experience levels! Expect to feel relaxed, rejuvenated and inspired!

 *No meditation experience necessary.

*Please bring a yoga mat and anything else you may need for relaxation. i.e. pillow, bolster, blanket.

*Please note that there is a tendency to get cooler through this meditation, wearing warm comfortable clothes is encouraged.

*Suitable for all.

Sound therapy is one of a growing number of subtle-energy therapies that make up the field of vibrational medicine.  Sound helps to facilitate shifts in our brainwave state by using entrainment which synchronizes our fluctuating brainwaves by providing a stable frequency by which the brainwave can attune. By using rhythm and frequency, we can entrain our brainwaves to calm our normal beta state (normal waking consciousness) to alpha (relaxed consciousness), and even reach theta (meditative state) and delta (sleep; where internal healing can occur).

Heated Vinyasa - Detox & Renew (Pop Up Class)

A couple sweet & special surprises will be awaiting you at the end. We hope you can join us for this fun and cleansing evening.
