to Mar 11

Elevate Assisting Program

This is a 2-Day Intensive Training

  • Saturday March 10th 11am-4pm - Lunch from 1:30-2pm
  • Sunday March 11th 11am-4pm - Lunch from 1:30-2pm

This program is designed for people who want to experience the gift of giving within their community. As yogis, we strive to incorporate seva (selfless service) into our daily lives. The act of serving within our yoga community is not just an opportunity to show love to others, it is also incredibly fulfilling. Want to know more about seva? Click Here.

In this training, you will experience giving and receiving hands-on assists and adjustments, and you will discover why this connection is magic. With lots of practice, you will learn how your assists will help people to better FEEL the poses in their bodies. You will develop intuition as well as knowledge of the proper alignment of the poses. With this intuition and a deeperunderstanding of yoga, you will create connection.

This is open to everyone! Whether you just want a deeper understanding of yoga, the poses, alignment and hands on assists or you want to take these skills and put them into action, this program is designed for all to learn and connect. We highly recommend this program to current yoga teachers, aspiring yoga teachers, or those interested in assisting in classes - This is an important part of being an instructor and we want you to feel comfortable and confident giving assists to your students.

You have the options to choose from:

  • Just the Training - $200 (includes 2-Day Training & Elevate Assisting Handbook)

  • Training to be Elevate Certified - $250 (includes 2-Day Training, Elevate Assisting Handbook, Peer Assist Test-Out & Elevate Approved, Certificate of Completion, and opportunity to assist at our studio! If this interests you, read below

Become Elevate Certified! We want to make sure that our assists are benefiting our students. Before we go out into the world to share our newfound love of touch, it is important that we aren't causing harm to our students unknowingly and have experienced feedback to help make sure we are safe in our assists. That's where we come in. You will be required to do 5 full class peer assists that are Elevate approved. Kaycie Hall & Lindsay Negrello will receive your assists along with select peers and provide you with feedback to help you feel confident and ready to share your touch! With our stamp of approval, you will not only be able to share your assists with others, but we hope to have you share them with us! Ask us about our assisting opportunities!

Elevate Talk: Subtle Body & The 8 Limb Path with Lama Brandy Davis

Join our guest speaker, Lama Brandy for a 2 hour Talk & Meditation

For so many of us, yoga has come into our lives as a blessing. It not only cures our various physical ailments and stymies the effects of time and gravity, but perhaps most miraculously, yoga has the power to set us free. In this two-hour workshop we will look at the anatomy of the subtle body: the system of channels and chakras, and the coursing of the inner winds and the thoughts which ride upon them. For at its core Hatha Yoga is a practice of transformation, rooted in the interpenetration of our physical, pranic, mental and ultimate bodies. Armed with the knowledge of how yoga works, we can empower our practice to effect transformation at the root of our deepest held patterns and instincts.

We will not need our mats for practice, but please come comfortable and ready to stay seated. We do have some props available for you to sit on, but if you have your own you'd like to use or will need a chair, please feel free to bring it.

Brandy Davis is a meditation and yoga teacher. She has been studying and practicing for over two decades. Her current passion is restorative justice and working with incarcerated populations. She has a particular knack for personalizing deep philosophical concepts and making them applicable to our modern lives.  She teaches with love and humor. Brandy’s greatest joy comes from witnessing the opening of the human heart.

Pop-Up Yin Class

7:00 PM19:00

Pop-Up Yin Class

Yin is a slower, more gentle style of yoga that works on opening the body and mind. Poses are done on the ground in seated or reclined positions and focused on longer deeper holds. Unlike other practices that focus on strengthening, heat building, and activation of the muscles, yin’s objective is to deactivate and to allow ourselves to release deeper into the connective tissues throughout the body. Poses are focused on passive release with the use of props for support and are typically held for 3-5 minutes each. After a few minutes of releasing into these poses, the body begins to find more flexibility and range of motion while helping to stretch and strengthen the joints. For those that have a hard time being still, this is a great mental practice. It may seem slow and gentle, but yin still offers a challenge of seeking our physical, mental, and emotional edges. There is great strength in surrender.

31 Day Yoga Challenge
Jan

12:00 AM00:00

31 Day Yoga Challenge

Yoga every damn day for the entire month of January! You read that right! Are you up for the challenge? A lot of us may have New Year's resolutions, so why not work on a healthy body AND mind? We are inviting you to experience how you feel after a month straight of yoga! Make the time for you! Please read the details below.

- Yes, this is open to beginners of yoga! We teach all levels classes, so there will be options for everyone to choose from. We encourage rest if you need it - take it at your own pace. We want you all to feel welcomed and comfortable with wherever you are in your practice - new or experienced. If you'd like to read up on our different styles of classes, click here

- Online yoga! We understand that our schedule doesn't always work with yours, so we are incorporating the relaunch of our online yoga classes! You must have a Facebook account to become a member of our group & access our online yoga classes. Look up and join our group by clicking here: Online Yoga Classes - Elevate Community Yoga. We will start accepting members January 1st and whether you finish the challenge or not, enjoy the entire month long online membership for free! We will be creating at least 2 classes a week, and you will have access to all of our older videos, too! You will be removed from the group after the challenge ends January 31st unless you choose to sign up for the monthly subscription (click here: $20/month auto-pay). Current studio members have access at no additional cost!

- New studio classes for the challenge! We offer classes 7 days a week in studio, but we've decided to add a couple extra classes a week to the schedule for the duration of the challenge. We will be offering Pop Up classes: Fridays Jan 5th-19th from 5:30-6:45pm. (Sorry, we won't be available the evening of Jan 26th - perhaps an online class would suffice!). We will also be offering Sundays Jan 7th-28th from 6-7:15pm - Yin. Keep your eyes open for workshops and other pop up classes & events too! To check out our weekly/monthly schedule, click here.

- The challenge is FREE! There is no cost to join aside from the donations you make towards classes. We recommend that if you are going to participate in the challenge, consider getting a one month unlimited package. Suggested donation: $110 - donate what you can. You can purchase that online by clicking HERE and entering your donation amount OR feel free to donate in studio the first day of the event. If you donate ahead of time online, the month starts the day you come in, not the day you purchased it. If you plan to continue coming in at least 2-3 times a week even after the challenge has ended, you might be more interested in an auto-pay monthly studio membership. This is $90/month auto-pay (no contract required - can be cancelled any time) and gives you way more perks than just unlimited studio and online yoga classes. For details on the auto-pay membership, perks, and to sign up, click HERE and hit subscribe. You can also just do normal packages or drop ins if you choose.

- Did we mention there are PRIZES?!?! Aside from the personal achievement of a 31 day yoga streak, you may be eligible to win an actual prize! We are encouraging you to come to studio classes. The online classes are a perk, but we are only allowing you 5 of them to count towards your challenge to be eligible for the grand prize! We want to see your faces every single day for the month of January, so come in to the studio and flow with us! If you come in to the studio and practice at LEAST 26 days throughout the month and make up the difference through online classes (total of 31 days), you will be eligible to win! If you take an online yoga class, we want to know how you liked it - please comment on the video after you've completed the class to let us know you did it and to share your experience!  Yes, there can be multiple winners and we hope you will be one of them! What's the prize? A braaaand neeewwww YOGA MAT! Expect some high quality mats! If you just can't make that many studio classes, do this challenge for YOU. You may not get a prize in hand, but you can still attend classes when you can and do online classes as much as you'd like to experience what this challenge is really all about - MAKING time for yourself and working on a healthier body and mind.

- How to sign up? Just show up! We will have a sign up sheet at the studio the first day of the event and we will keep track daily, so be sure to sign in each day you come in or comment on the online class you take! Feel free to ask to join our online group or make a donation towards your month or membership (all listed above) ahead of time.

- If you can't do the full 31 days straight, challenge yourself do as many as you can. Whether you start on day 1 or 21, feel free to jump on board and try to build a daily practice! If you miss a day, oh well - just pick back up and keep trying! It's called a challenge for a reason. Excuses are easy - Making time for ourselves is hard...that's why we're doing this! We deserve more self love and care, so we hope you join us!

We are so excited for this challenge, and we hope that you are too! Be a YES.

Holiday Candlelight Yin & Sip Event (Sold Out)

Have fun this holiday season with yin, sips, and your favorite holiday sweater!

This workshop is designed to introduce you to the cooler side of yoga. The static yin practice allows for the stillness and calm required to lengthening and reshape the connective tissues of the body: the joints, the ligaments and the tendons. These tissues are not very vascular (like our muscles) so our work in increasing their mobility must be slow, steady and consistent. By holding deep yet well-supported mat postures for 3 to 10 minutes and allowing gravity to do the work, we give our bodies the time they require to change.

Enjoy this practice by candlelight to help set a calming ambiance followed by chai and hot chocolate. We want you to feel completely relaxed and at ease after you're done. What better way to wrap up the week than with a deep release, community, and warm sips?

The significant difference between the yin and the yang practice (movement based vinyasa, Ashtanga, and Hatha) is that yin postures are done with the muscles totally disengaged so that the pressure stays in the connective tissues. That way these connective tissues are allowed to "unfreeze" gradually, thereby becoming more flexible, stronger, and more resilient as we age. Yin is contemplative by nature so it also allows students an opportunity to develop their focused meditation practice.

Integrative Spinal Workshop

Integrative Spinal Workshop

This workshop is designed to nurture awareness on the most important part of our anatomy: the spine. We will discuss the architecture and function of the spine, how spinal curves have evolved over time, and how our chair culture affects the health of our spine today.  Luckily, a yoga practice offers a range of benefits to increase our spinal vitality.

In practice, we will explore forward bends, back bends, and twists.  You will learn to practice yoga postures with greater efficiency and thus less strain on the back.  We will close the workshop with yummy restorative postures, giving our bodies a delightful balance of spinal strengthening, opening, and releasing.

Please note: this workshop is not suitable for those with acute back pain. Those with spinal problems accompanied by mild chronic pain who are already receiving yoga instruction and understand their limitations are welcome to attend.  Sam will make every effort to help individuals with spinal problems but please understand and respect the limits of what can be attained within a group class, as contrasted to one-on-one yoga therapy.

It can be very intimidating to think about an increase of temperature in what already feels like an intense yoga practice, but soon realize it's more a of a mental barrier as opposed to physical. Rest is available just like every other class, and once we learn to relax the mind into the temperature, the body will soon acclimate.

The room will be heated to 90 degrees and you will be guided through a flow of postures building internal heat, strength, balance, flexibility, and endurance. Expect a solid flow, yin postures, and guided meditaiton along with having a great time. You will experience a full body/mind detox as well as a refreshing renewal as you rise from your savasana with clear intention. We hope you can join us for this fun and cleansing evening. No sign ups necessary - just pop in!

Suggested Donation: Free for members, or counts as a normal class.

Candlelight Yin & Sip Event - SOLD OUT

Candlelight Yin & Sip Event - SOLD OUT

This workshop is designed to introduce you to the cooler side of yoga. The static yin practice allows for the stillness and calm required to lengthening and reshape the connective tissues of the body: the joints, the ligaments and the tendons. These tissues are not very vascular (like our muscles) so our work in increasing their mobility must be slow, steady and consistent. By holding deep yet well-supported mat postures for 3 to 10 minutes and allowing gravity to do the work, we give our bodies the time they require to change.

Enjoy this practice by candlelight to help set a calming ambiance followed by mulled wine and hot apple cider.
