Pop-Up Rocket Yoga Class

Pop-Up Rocket Yoga Class

What is Rocket? The rocket routines are revisions of the Traditional Ashtanga series that remove the hierarchy of postures and gives the student inspiration into their own creative process, their body's limitations and strengths, while still honoring the core values and teachings of this ancient practice.

What does that all mean? The Rocket resequences Traditional Ashtanga Series into variations more accessible for western audiences while fostering a playful, upbeat and dynamic atmosphere where we play music and emphasize handstands, floats, arm-balances, and change the sequence from time to time. Each pose and transition can be modified, refined and strengthened - the sequences are accessible to all.

About Bobby Harding: Bobby loves yoga. In particular, Bobby loves the traditional and progressive varieties of Ashtanga Vinyasa. Bobby Loves the way the continued pursuit of the practice and its challenges facilitates the refinement, strengthening and opening of the individual as we each are invited to confront ourselves on our mats.  He loves to share the practices and to make sure all who are drawn to them are able to find enjoyment.

No need to sign up in advance - show up ready to have some fun! All levels welcomed to join, learn, and have a great time.

Yin & Sip Event
Jun

4:00 PM16:00

Yin & Sip Event

This event is designed to introduce you to the cooler side of yoga. The static yin practice allows for the stillness and calm required to lengthen and reshape the connective tissues of the body: the joints, the ligaments and the tendons. These tissues are not very vascular (like our muscles) so our work in increasing their mobility must be slow, steady and consistent. By holding deep yet well-supported mat postures for 3 to 10 minutes and allowing gravity to do the work, we give our bodies the time they require to change.

Enjoy this calming practice followed by sangria and arnold palmers. We want you to feel completely relaxed and at ease after you're done. What better way to enjoy your afternoon than with a deep release, community, and tasty sips?

The significant difference between the yin and the yang practice (movement based vinyasa, Ashtanga, and Hatha) is that yin postures are done with the muscles totally disengaged so that the pressure stays in the connective tissues. That way these connective tissues are allowed to "unfreeze" gradually, thereby becoming more flexible, stronger, and more resilient as we age. Yin is contemplative by nature so it also allows students an opportunity to develop their focused meditation practice.

Rocket Yoga Introduction 2 Part Series

to Jun 2

Rocket Yoga Introduction 2 Part Series

This is a 2-Part Series - Both are recommended, but you can always just sign up for one!

- Saturday May 26th 11:30-2:30pm Rocket 1

- Saturday June 2nd 11:30-2:30pm Rocket 2

What is Rocket?

The rocket routines are revisions of the Traditional Ashtanga series that remove the hierarchy of postures and gives the student inspiration into their own creative process, their body's limitations and strengths, while still honoring the core values and teachings of this ancient practice.

What does that all mean?

The Rocket resequences 1st and 2nd series Traditional Ashtanga into variations more accessible for western audiences while fostering a playful, upbeat and dynamic atmosphere where we play music and emphasize handstands, floats, arm-balances, and change the sequence from time to time. Each pose and transition can be modified, refined and strengthened - the sequences are accessible to all.

Workshop and Practice.

Learn and develop the fundamentals that define and build proficiency in both Rocket 1 and Rocket 2, and then practice each sequence. We will emphasize the transitions, flows, floats, handstands and armbalances of Rocket that make the sequences so unique and vibrant. It doesn't matter if you're a beginner or an advanced pracitioner, there will be something for everyone.

Rocket 1 is a modification of the Traditional Primary Series, emphasizing forward folds.

Rocket 2 is a modification of the Traditional Second Series, emphasizing backbends. Rocket 2 also includes postures from the Advanced Series of Ashtanga.

Bring your mat, a notebook, and a playful attitude. This will be fun.

About Bobby Harding:

Bobby loves yoga.

31 Days of Handstands - Learn With Lindsay

31 Days of Handstands - Learn With Lindsay

We've done a few different month long challenges in the past, but the handstand challenge was definitely the most fun, so we're bringing it back!

On Friday, May 4th (day before challenge begins), Kaycie Hall will be leading a Handstand Workshop to break down a lot of the different variations and how to practice them safely and mindfully. This isn't mandatory to be a part of our month long challenge, but it is recommended especially for those that are newer to handstands or wanting to know what to work on in preparation.

The challenge starts Saturday May 5th and goes until the 4th of June. You will post a video of your handstand practice every single day throughout the month and post it to our closed Facebook group: Learn with Lindsay - Elevate Community Yoga where we will have a community of other students sharing their practices as well. Why is it called Learn with Lindsay? She will be practicing WITH you each day throughout the challenge, and Kaycie will help with feedback, comments, challenges and tips to help everyone progress within their own practice. Better yet, it's completely free and open to all! This was a whole lot of fun the last time we did it, and this time will be even better! There will be lots of breakthroughs, strength & confidence building, and community connection. We will even be opening time after certain studio classes to practice! Be sure to join our facebook group (link above) and if you want to attend the workshop to better your understanding, click HERE.

If you can't do every single day, just do what you can! This is about building more consistency in your practice - NOT straining your body. If you are newer to the practice, please be sure to listen to your body as that is the most important part. Yoga doesn't hurt you - the ego does that, so take breaks, days off, or modifications if needed. Have fun and enjoy the journey, not just the destination. #elevateyoself

CHALLENGE IS FREE & OPEN TO EVERYONE WHO WANTS TO JOIN IN!

Even if you don't attend the workshop, this challenge is still open to everyone who'd like to participate. We've created a private Facebook group: Learn with Lindsay - Elevate Community Yoga where you will be practicing with Lindsay on different handstand techniques. Kaycie will be posting a video in the group with instructions on what you'll be doing. All you have to do is put in a little time every single day for a month and post your progress videos to the group! Lindsay and Kaycie will both be participating and posting daily - Kaycie will be offering feedback and suggestions to help you excel. Can't commit to an entire month? Do what you can. Plan on doing it all the way through? We hope you do! We want to see you progress AND have a great time along the way!

Remember: This is about challenging yourself while also listening to your body. A month of anything every day can be a lot, and handstand practice is no exception. Elevate Talk: Subtle Body & The 8 Limb Path with Lama Brandy Davis

Join our guest speaker, Lama Brandy for a 2 hour Talk & Meditation

For so many of us, yoga has come into our lives as a blessing. It not only cures our various physical ailments and stymies the effects of time and gravity, but perhaps most miraculously, yoga has the power to set us free. In this two-hour workshop we will look at the anatomy of the subtle body: the system of channels and chakras, and the coursing of the inner winds and the thoughts which ride upon them. For at its core Hatha Yoga is a practice of transformation, rooted in the interpenetration of our physical, pranic, mental and ultimate bodies. Armed with the knowledge of how yoga works, we can empower our practice to effect transformation at the root of our deepest held patterns and instincts.

We will not need our mats for practice, but please come comfortable and ready to stay seated. We do have some props available for you to sit on, but if you have your own you'd like to use or will need a chair, please feel free to bring it.

Brandy Davis is a meditation and yoga teacher. She has been studying and practicing for over two decades. Her current passion is restorative justice and working with incarcerated populations. She has a particular knack for personalizing deep philosophical concepts and making them applicable to our modern lives.  She teaches with love and humor. Brandy’s greatest joy comes from witnessing the opening of the human heart.

Intro to Ayurveda

Ayurveda (“the science of life”), is the ancient health system of India that emerged alongside yoga. Sometimes called “the people's medicine,” because it is based on choices about daily rhythms, diet, and self-care, Ayurveda is a practical and holistic approach to well-being.

This workshop is helpful for those seeking:

  • More space and time in their life
  • More energy
  • More emotional balance
  • Better sleep
  • Better digestion
  • Healthier body image
  • More relaxation and joy

The workshop will cover:

  • Basic principles of Ayurveda
  • The doshas (A self-assessment tool for understanding your unique constitution)
  • Living with the rhythm of the seasons and the sun
  • Creating daily habits that allow one to thrive

Instructor: Abbie Silvers first learned of Ayurveda while studying to become a yoga teacher. In 2014, Abbie met Cate Stillman (Yogahealer.com) and began to study Ayurveda under her. Abbie is grateful for the benefits of an Ayurvedic lifestyle. It has brought balance to herself, family and home.

Elevate Assisting Program

Elevate Assisting Program

This is a 2-Day Intensive Training

  • Saturday March 10th 11am-4pm - Lunch from 1:30-2pm
  • Sunday March 11th 11am-4pm - Lunch from 1:30-2pm

This program is designed for people who want to experience the gift of giving within their community. As yogis, we strive to incorporate seva (selfless service) into our daily lives. The act of serving within our yoga community is not just an opportunity to show love to others, it is also incredibly fulfilling. Want to know more about seva? Click Here.

In this training, you will experience giving and receiving hands-on assists and adjustments, and you will discover why this connection is magic. With lots of practice, you will learn how your assists will help people to better FEEL the poses in their bodies. You will develop intuition as well as knowledge of the proper alignment of the poses. With this intuition and a deeperunderstanding of yoga, you will create connection.

This is open to everyone! Whether you just want a deeper understanding of yoga, the poses, alignment and hands on assists or you want to take these skills and put them into action, this program is designed for all to learn and connect. We highly recommend this program to current yoga teachers, aspiring yoga teachers, or those interested in assisting in classes - This is an important part of being an instructor and we want you to feel comfortable and confident giving assists to your students.

You have the options to choose from:

  • Just the Training - $200 (includes 2-Day Training & Elevate Assisting Handbook)

  • Training to be Elevate Certified - $250 (includes 2-Day Training, Elevate Assisting Handbook, Peer Assist Test-Out & Elevate Approved, Certificate of Completion, and opportunity to assist at our studio! If this interests you, read below

Become Elevate Certified! We want to make sure that our assists are benefiting our students. Before we go out into the world to share our newfound love of touch, it is important that we aren't causing harm to our students unknowingly and have experienced feedback to help make sure we are safe in our assists. That's where we come in. You will be required to do 5 full class peer assists that are Elevate approved. Kaycie Hall & Lindsay Negrello will receive your assists along with select peers and provide you with feedback to help you feel confident and ready to share your touch! With our stamp of approval, you will not only be able to share your assists with others, but we hope to have you share them with us! Ask us about our assisting opportunities!

Elevate Mysore Intensive

to Mar 9

Elevate Mysore Intensive

Dive into the tradition of Ashtanga yoga with this week long Mysore Intensive! This self-led practice can seem daunting at first, so we're launching a 5 day intensive to help you understand what it is and how to do it! Ashley Garcia, Samantha Wiesner, Kaycie Hall and Lindsay Negrello will be there each day to help cater the Ashtanga practice to you. No, you don't have to know what it is to be a part of this! This is how it works:

Monday March 5th through Friday March 9th from 5:30-8am - Studio will be open to practice! This is a 3 or 5 day intensive (we recommend the full 5 Mon-Fri) but drop ins are still welcome. You will show up each day within that time frame to get your practice in (however long you choose), but remember, doors CLOSE at 8am so your practice will have to be completed before that time.

For those newer to Ashtanga: Don't feel intimidated! This is different than a normal led primary class. You will learn to move your way through a practice on your own, at your own pace. Ashtanga is a set sequence (doesn't change) so you'll learn little bits at a time to help establish understanding of the practice. Some poses may be challenging, so we highly recommend only doing parts of the practice and taking modifications (we will show you how to do this). We want everyone to see the softer side of Ashtanga, and Mysore practice is the perfect way to experience that for yourself! We recommend you show up to start around 6:30-7am as there will be more emphasis on the basics, but you can feel free to come in anytime that meets your needs as long as your practice is completed prior to 8am.

For those familiar with Ashtanga or Mysore: We'd recommend coming in early as assists will start at 6am. This gives you time to complete the opening, sun salutations, and standing postures before the primary series, but feel free to come in anytime as long as your practice is completed prior to 8am. If you don't know the full sequence, you can use our cheat sheets and we will offer you help as well. Please release any expectation to have to do the full sequence every single time.

Mysore Q&A Sunday March 4th from 1:30-2ish. This follows Ashley's Led Ashtanga class (which we hope you can attend as it is the day before the intensive starts). We will be open to any questions you may have before we dive in to Mysore! Come to class and stay or just pop in for Q&A. Hope to see you there!

This is NOT about having to do the full Primary Series every single day - We've designed this intensive to show you how to break it up and soften it to meet your needs. Remember, this is a lifelong practice, so learn to serve your body - not your ego! After this week long intensive, we will be offering Mysore style Thursday mornings from 5:30-8am with Samantha Wiesner. We also offer Led Primary Series every Tuesday morning from 5:30-7am & Sunday from 12-1:30pm. This is a great way to familiarize yourself with the poses and sequence, but also gives you an opportunity to recognize the differences between the two styles. A led practice tends to be more challenging than Mysore because each breath is counted and every pose is taught (although you can always modify or skip poses). Mysore allows you more time and breath in your postures and to work through it in chunks at your own pace since you are guiding yourself. They both hold value and we hope you can make the most of it! The more feedback we get on the classes, the more we can adjust and fine tune the classes to better serve you!

We have Ashtanga Primary Series cheat sheets that you can use while you practice to remember the sequence. They are also available for sale if you'd like one for yourself (includes full sequence and opening/closing chants).

It's only one week! Come share your mornings with us!

Suggested Donation:

- $75 for 5 days (Mon-Fri)

- $50 for 3 days (3 days of your choice between Mon-Fri)

- $18 drop ins (whichever day you choose)

With: Ashley Garcia, Samantha Wiesner, Kaycie Hall, and Lindsay Negrello

Ashtanga Workshop & Led Class

Ashtanga Yoga - 8 Limb Practice. Ashley Garcia will guide you through the first hour and half (10:30-12) with a workshop breaking down the foundation of the Ashtanga practice. Brief history, origin, chanting, sequencing, common modifications, and Mysore style. This will include a full printout of the primary series postures in order along with the opening and closing chants. We hope to build awareness not only for Ashtanga yoga, but eventually on how to work towards a Mysore practice. Not sure what that means? Come learn!

You will then attend her full led Ashtanga Primary Series class from 12-1:30pm (included in cost). You can put your knowledge into action! Just like any class, you can rest or take it at your own pace. This is a very traditional and structured practice - come ready to learn and transform.

Class is open to everyone and can be attended without the purchase of the workshop, but space is limited and guaranteed to those that have purchased this workshop.

Pop-Up Yin Class

Pop-Up Yin Class

Yin is a slower, more gentle style of yoga that works on opening the body and mind. Poses are done on the ground in seated or reclined positions and focused on longer deeper holds. Unlike other practices that focus on strengthening, heat building, and activation of the muscles, yin’s objective is to deactivate and to allow ourselves to release deeper into the connective tissues throughout the body. Poses are focused on passive release with the use of props for support and are typically held for 3-5 minutes each. After a few minutes of releasing into these poses, the body begins to find more flexibility and range of motion while helping to stretch and strengthen the joints. For those that have a hard time being still, this is a great mental practice. It may seem slow and gentle, but yin still offers a challenge of seeking our physical, mental, and emotional edges. There is great strength in surrender.
