30 Day Meditation Challenge

Challenge is from November 11th-December 10th 2019 - FREE EVENT

Have you been wanting to build a consistent home meditation practice? Or maybe you already have one and just want to practice with the community! We have created this 30 Day Meditation Challenge to get more people to enjoy the power of this magical practice - no matter your experience level! Meditating a little bit every single day can make a huge difference in our lives and we want you to be able to experience those differences first hand! Meditate with us daily during a time of year when life gets busy and oftentimes stressful. It can be easy to get caught up in all the movement of life while neglecting our own personal needs. If you're reading this now, you can MAKE time for a practice that can ultimately change your life. We can't wait to share it with you!

This challenge will be taking place on Facebook through our private Facebook group: Practice with Elevate (click link to join group). We have used this platform for prior challenges, but this is the first time the focus will be on Meditation. Okay, here's the part where we get you way out of your comfort zone. Each participant will post a Facebook LIVE video sitting for their practice every single day of this challenge. If you aren't familiar with Facebook LIVE, it is a video that records and previews instantly to our group so we see when you start, the full practice, and when you finish. This part is important for us to ensure each person is meditating each day and for how long. Remember, we must be able to see that it is YOU!

WHAT ARE THE RULES?

First, you must decide your goals for this challenge. This can be tailored to fit your specific needs.

What time of day? Choose a general time of day that you are committing to practicing daily. Morning, afternoon or evening. We recommend first thing in the morning to jumpstart your day, but anytime you can practice consistently works just fine.

For how long? Choose a length of time you'd like to practice each day. When choosing a time, pick a length that will challenge you yet inspire you to overcome. For beginners, we recommend 5-10 minutes daily. For those that have been practicing for a while, we recommend 15-20+ minutes daily.

We are asking you to commit to a specific time of day and length of time to hold you accountable in your practice. Consistency is key, and we want meditation to become a regular practice for you even after this challenge is over. Choose days and lengths of time that are reasonable & sustainable.

If you don't want to follow through with your exact day/time commitments, do what works best for you. These are here to help you with building a consistent routine in your practice, but can also be enjoyed daily without these commitments. Feel free to join us for this challenge either way!

Posting with Facebook LIVE

Facebook LIVE is just that... LIVE in the moment. Make sure your video camera is facing you and that we can clearly see you. Once you've completed your practice, you can end the video and BE SURE TO POST IT TO THE GROUP. We will check the full length of your video after it's been posted to see exact start/end times and to indicate the length of your practice. If you do not post it afterwards, it will not show up or be accounted for. We apologize if technology isn't your thing - we are giving you plenty of time to play with it or to reach out for help prior to the challenge.

You need an active Facebook account and ability to go LIVE from whatever device you are using to record your practice. You do not need phone storage to do this. By going live, it uploads to Facebook rather than your phone. If you use your phone to go LIVE, be sure that you are able to track your time or play music (if desired) from another device.

POINT SYSTEM

After each day, we will give points to each participant who shared & posted their practice with us via Facebook LIVE. You will be able to earn 1-3 points every single day depending on your practice.

  • 1 point will be issued if you post your daily meditation practice to the group (regardless of length of time/time of day)

  • 1 point will be issued if you practiced 15 or more minutes

  • 1 point will be issued if you met your length of time/time of day goal (you must have met them both to receive the point)

You do not receive extra points for multiple practices in one day. 3 points is the maximum point total that can be received each day - 90 points is the grand total that can be earned throughout this entire challenge.

Points can not be made up

WINNERS

If you are playing to win a prize, you must complete every single day to be able to participate in the raffle. However many points you earn throughout the challenge will be the amount of entries you receive towards our raffle prizes. Only 3 winners will be chosen to receive a raffle prize - the true winning is a daily meditation practice.

Once the challenge is completed on December 10th by 11:59pm, we will announce the raffle winners the following day! We have 3 prizes currently, but who knows what other goodies we will have to share when the time comes?!

HOW DO I PRACTICE AT HOME?

Here are a few helpful reminders for building your practice at home:

  • Find a "quiet" place to sit

  • Find a comfortable seat

  • Play music or a guided meditation (optional)

  • Set a timer

  • Breathe

  • Don't forget to record for the challenge

LIVE CLASS - Q&A

Kaycie will be streaming a LIVE Facebook video to the group Saturday November 9th at 11am where she will go over the details of how to build your home practice. This will cover information like how to find a comfortable seated position, common discomforts felt in the body while sitting and how to support it for sustainable practice, making time for ourselves, how to create space in your home for meditation, types of guided meditations available, learning to be okay with having thoughts, dealing with distractions, suggested timers, music, rituals and any other details that come up. This LIVE class is free and will be open for you to ask questions throughout - Q&A style. Your questions can also be helpful to others, so we encourage you to engage!

If you can't tune in for the LIVE class, it will be uploaded to the group afterwards for you to watch at your convenience. If you have further questions after watching the video, comment on the video with your questions and Kaycie will respond to them promptly.
