Yin & Sip Event

This event is designed to introduce you to the cooler side of yoga. The static yin practice allows for the stillness and calm required to lengthen and reshape the connective tissues of the body: the joints, the ligaments and the tendons. These tissues are not very vascular (like our muscles) so our work in increasing their mobility must be slow, steady and consistent. By holding deep yet well-supported mat postures for 3 to 10 minutes and allowing gravity to do the work, we give our bodies the time they require to change.

Enjoy this calming practice followed by sangria and arnold palmers. We want you to feel completely relaxed and at ease after you're done. What better way to enjoy your afternoon than with a deep release, community, and tasty sips?

The significant difference between the yin and the yang practice (movement based vinyasa, Ashtanga, and Hatha) is that yin postures are done with the muscles totally disengaged so that the pressure stays in the connective tissues. That way these connective tissues are allowed to "unfreeze" gradually, thereby becoming more flexible, stronger, and more resilient as we age. Yin is contemplative by nature so it also allows students an opportunity to develop their focused meditation practice.
